Game Day

Last week was a bit roller-coaster-y. The simple update is that I most likely have some lymph node involvement which we knew was probable, but the PET scan from my neck to my thighs came back essentially clear, which is very good news. I’m learning that very few things are absolutely certain, another reason why having medical a team that I trust is so important. With the pathology report and information we have, I will start what’s called neoadjuvant chemotherapy - chemo first and surgery later.
A good friend from undergrad who shares my love of sports has coined my chemo days “Game Day.” My first game day will be this Tuesday 1/20. Sounds like it will be around 3-4 hours and I’ll have a lot of meds on board before, during, and after to help with nausea and other side effects. I also will be getting an injection to help my bone marrow with the production of white blood cells 24 hours after every chemo infusion. I have transportation for both of these this week, but I’ll likely put that up on the calendar on this page for future appointments.
