8/19/26 More Tests

We met with the oncologist this morning. He was extremely nice but didn't even look at the CT scan that we worked so hard to get on Monday. He basically said CT was worth nothing and Mom had to get an MRI, a sigmoidoscopy with a surgeon, and blood tests before getting any further information in terms of diagnosis or treatment. And although we did the blood tests this morning, we have yet to hear back regarding the implications of their results.

They were unable to get Mom an MRI until 2 weeks out. We are pursuing a colorectal surgeon outside of this hospital system whose first availability is September 17 for a consult. Because Mom is likely anemic, the oncologist will likely want to wait before pursuing surgery anyway, to get her levels up.
