Why Samuel needs EM-Field Therapy

We started our second week at Infinity Neuro Motor Development Center today. Each therapy Samuel receives here work together to support one another, helping improve a wide range of limitations for him. We’re already seeing encouraging changes in his energy levels, strength, coordination, reflexes, drive, curiosity, and the way he holds his body. Even his weaker eye is appearing more open and stable after treatments. Everyone who has seen Samuel, even after the first few days - 2 weeks ago, has noticed a difference.
One of the therapies Samuel receives is electromagnetic (EM) muscle stimulation therapy. You can see the machine on his back in the photo attached.
- This therapy is delivered by an EM Field machine
- It uses low-frequency electromagnetic waves to stimulate the muscles, causing muscle contractions
These contractions are completely out of Samuel’s control, which is important because they engage both slow- and fast-twitch muscles that he may not be able to fully access on his own.
This is especially impactful for Samuel because one of the biggest challenges he faces is hypotonia (very low muscle tone). His muscles are extremely soft and underdeveloped throughout his body, which makes many milestones difficult to achieve, even with weekly physical therapy and daily exercises at home.
What makes this therapy so unique is that it stimulates his muscles in a way that hard work alone simply can’t.
- Therapists describe it as the equivalent of doing 60 crunches per minute for 30 minutes
- That level of muscle engagement isn’t something Samuel is able to achieve on his own, especially given his limited strength and energy
The progress we’ve already seen is incredible:
- At the start of his first three days of therapy, there was no visible muscle contraction, even at 100% power
- It took several minutes at full intensity to see even the smallest twitch in his pinky
- By the end of those three days, he still required 100% power, but the contractions were much stronger and clearly visible
The machine can be used on all his muscle groups, and even his physical therapists at home have noticed improvements in his strength - after just three sessions.
