Riley Herman
It was a hard day for our Riley Roo. She did end up having to have the bronchoscopy. They said she had A LOT of mucus in her lungs. They also said they had to put a saline flush in her lungs, which could result in a fever (so far, nothing!). They said they got most of it, but there is still some mucus in her lungs which they hope will break up on its own with the help of therapy.
They needed to keep the breathing tube in, so she's reintubated for another 24 hours. They are hoping to take the tube out tomorrow.
Its been very surreal this weekend. To go from having some family time on the floor, hearing Riley's belly laughs for the first time in weeks, having her stand up and walk to me to give me a hug, to having her back under sedation with a tube down her throat for the 3rd (technically 4th) time, is really hard. Keep us in prayer as we navigate another curveball.
As we're being reminded by the people at CHOP from her doctors to those who have seen her grow, she's a tough girl, she's strong, and she'll get through this. And as one special nurse reminded me, her strength will be evidence as another victory of the Lord.
