We have a little more information to share about Dad’s treatment plan. Dr. Ruiz saw him Tuesday and spoke with the medical team. Based on his condition, Dr. Ruiz feels that doing an ablation could lower Dad’s ejection fraction even further. Because of that, the better option may be to use a temporary heart pump to support his heart while we wait for a transplant.
This is tentatively the plan right now. If everything goes as expected, Dad may need to remain in the hospital for approximately a month and a half while the doctors regulate the pump and his medications. If everything stabilizes, there is a possibility he could eventually go home and wait for a donor heart from there. We are taking this one step at a time and trusting God to guide his doctors and our family through it all.
We also received some concerning information from the sleep study. During the study, Dad experienced an episode of tachycardia, and then his heart stopped for approximately 19 seconds. His doctors are aware and are continuing to evaluate what happened and what it means for his treatment moving forward.
Dad is heading to the hospital now, so please continue to keep him in your prayers. Please pray for wisdom for his doctors, strength for Dad, and that the right heart will become available at the right time.
We could also use some help with travel and lodging expenses. With Dad going in and out of the hospital and the possibility of a lengthy hospital stay, the costs of traveling, staying near the hospital, meals, and other unexpected expenses are adding up quickly. If you feel led to help, every donation makes a difference and helps our family be there for Dad during this time.
We also need help with two of Dad’s three dogs. Our family is helping care for one of them, but we are looking for someone who may be able to temporarily foster the other two while Dad is in the hospital. They are very loved, and we just want to make sure all three are safe, cared for, and loved while our focus is on Dad. If you or someone you know may be able to help with fostering the other two, please message me.
Thank you for continuing to pray, check in, share our fundraiser, donate, and surround our family with so much love. We are incredibly grateful for every bit of support
