Today marks four weeks since Becky suddenly lost Brad to cardiac arrest.
His passing was completely unexpected, and there are still moments when it doesn’t feel real. Grief has a way of making the world seem as though it has stopped, even while life continues around us. I know I feel that at times, and I can only imagine how much more deeply Becky is experiencing it.
We know grief doesn’t move in a straight line. It comes in waves, often without warning. We are deeply grateful to those of you who continue to reach out, check in, and remind Becky that she is not alone. Those simple gestures mean more than words can express.
When someone loses the love of their life, it’s easy for their own well-being to take a back seat. Your ongoing care, encouragement, and presence are helping Becky through the hardest days of her life, and for that we are so thankful.
Brad’s Celebration of Life will be held on August 17. Many have asked how they can help. If you were planning to send flowers, a gift, or another expression of sympathy, we would be deeply grateful if you would instead consider making a donation to support Becky during this difficult time. For those who have already donated, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity has been beyond incredible and is helping ease the burden of rent, funeral expenses, and the many unexpected costs that come with such a sudden loss. It has also given Becky the opportunity to return to work slowly and on her own terms. She plans to return part-time next week, and we are hopeful that easing back into a routine will be another small step in her healing journey.
We have also been overwhelmed by the many acts of kindness that can’t be measured in dollars. A neighbor unexpectedly mowed Becky’s lawn. A friend of Brad’s volunteered to help Bob sort through the garage and decide what to keep and what can be sold. A friend treated Becky to a much-needed manicure and pedicure. Others have stopped by to visit, taken her out for coffee or lunch, or simply spent time sitting with her. These thoughtful gestures have brought comfort, light, and hope during some very dark days.
Please continue to keep Becky and Jonah in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to navigate this journey one day at a time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for surrounding our beloved Becky and our entire family with your friendship, prayers, generosity, and love.
