7/6 Update

Hello everyone,

As usual our life is unpredictable and we live day to day without ever knowing what to expect. Today, Madeline and I walked into the hospital expecting to complete her last day of radiation. Her little body had other plans. She had a fever of 102 and upon review of her labs she her red blood cells are low and she has almost no white blood cells, meaning she cannot fight off an infection on her own.

We are now admitted at St. Vincent again until at least Wednesday afternoon. She is getting IV fluids, antibiotics, and a blood transfusion as of right now. She will be closely monitored while we are here and will hopefully receive her last radiation treatment tomorrow and chemo on Wednesday. Aside from being fatigued she is smiling and happy and told me she feels “normal.” Her numbers and labs obviously say otherwise but I am glad that she is feeling ok.

Please pray for healing, for excellent care, and for resilience and peace for Kaitlyn and Lilah. As an adult it is hard to process our ever changing schedule and lack of routine. For our small girls it is even harder. This is truly a year of survival. We cannot make plans and life feels uncertain most of the time. We will make it through, and as always are incredibly grateful to be able to lean on Jesus when our world feels chaotic. We know and believe that He is the ultimate redeemer of disorder and He will indeed ultimately restore the peace in our lives.  However, it is still hard and frustrating and sad when we are living in the middle of the chaos.

Here are some happy pictures from the past week, because even though we have a lot of hard right now we also have an abundance of sweet smiley moments to celebrate.
