Hello again,
Madeline is napping peacefully as I am writing this. We just got transferred out of the ICU and onto the general surgical floor where we will remain for the duration of our stay as long as no complications arise.
We were able to get more sleep than expected last night and I think David and I both woke up feeling rested. Although we had very frequent checks from our nurses overnight, Madeline’s pain was managed well and we were able to sleep in between being checked on. Her epidural had to come out this morning due to some leaking so we have been working on managing pain without that. Madeline has certainly been hesitant to move, which is understandable because of her large incision. Physical therapy will be here in the next hour to get her up and out of bed for the first time. This will likely be tough.
To close on a high note, we heard very exciting preliminary pathology results from our surgeon this afternoon! The lymph nodes and the tissue around the tumor that they removed during surgery showed no evidence of cancer. The tumor likely never ruptured. Thank you Jesus! This is such good news!
We have a long road ahead of us but so far this surgery has been successful and things have gone according to plan. We are thankful for wonderful medical staff and the power of modern medicine. Please pray for protection over our girl as she heals, and for a recovery free of infection or complications.
We love you!
