I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share an update on Presley’s journey, and I’m excited to let you know that we’ve received some incredible news this week: Presley has been accepted into the rehabilitation program at BC Children’s Hospital!

While there are still some details to iron out, I know her post-op therapies will take place in Vancouver, where she will receive intensive care to strengthen her muscles and relearn how to move her body. This process will be both inpatient and outpatient, lasting for 6–8 weeks following the surgery.

This means that Presley and I will be living in Vancouver for 8–10 weeks so that she can get the full support she needs. It’s a big commitment, but it’s the best opportunity for her to make the most progress possible.

If I’m being honest, this journey comes with a wide range of emotions. On one hand, I’m incredibly grateful that Presley has this chance, and I’m thankful that I’m able to be her full-time caregiver while still supporting the women I work with from wherever I am. But I’ll admit, there’s some fear and uncertainty around choosing an invasive surgery that’s optional. There are hesitations, and that’s okay. But I am choosing to trust my gut, the medical team, and our strong support network that’s been with us every step of the way.

We’ll be leaving in early May for this next chapter. The decision to fly or drive is still up in the air (decisions, decisions! ✈️🚘), but either way, this is going to be a journey of growth, just like our 7-week NICU stay back in 2018. We know this experience will be heart-opening and transformative, in ways we can’t yet even imagine.
