Good morning!
We’re sitting in a new room this morning — Dad was moved out of the ICU into a very nice room in the stable patient area! He was stable enough to be transferred on Friday due to his progress, but there weren’t any beds available, and the ICU team had grown quite fond of him, so they kept him until they needed the space for a new major surgery patient.
The care here has been incredible, and we’ve met so many wonderful doctors, nurses, specialists, and support staff.
They removed Dad’s trach on Monday and took out his feeding tube this morning. There has been a steady flow of hallelujahs, praise Gods, and amens all week — especially when Dad got his first taste of soft foods and coffee yesterday! 😝 He’s already counting down until lunch.
They expect to release him in the next day or two, as long as the trach opening heals and closes and his vitals and bloodwork continue to look good.
Once home, he’ll still be limited with eating for some time and will need to be very careful about exposure to germs, bacteria, or sickness due to the risk of pneumonia.
We couldn’t be more grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness through this entire journey, and we are so, so appreciative of all the steady support, prayers, and encouraging words from you all.
God is good. ❤️
