Thank you all for the continued support. We are reading each message and appreciate the messages, gifts, donations, and other tangible ways you are supprtiny us. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful community!
Morgan has responded incredibly well to weaning the vent settings, and is also responding fairly well to having his sedation weaned (he is experiencing some medication withdrawal symptoms which sucks, and the team is treating those.) With that, the team feels he is ready for extubation. The team plans to extubate super early tomorrow (Tuesday morning), and then he will go on bi-pap.
From bi-pap, the hope is that the team can take a stepwise approach (going from bi-pap/cpap to high flow oxygen to regular oxygen) to decreasing respiratory support. Morgan will also continue to be weaned from the sedatives he's currently on and will then begin a rehab process (as he was on meds to paralyze him for 10 days, which impacts muscle strength and in a bed for 2+ weeks.)
Please continue to keep us on your thoughts and prayers! While he's in a much better place than he was, we have a ways to go to get home!
