Beginning to wake up!

Due to other children with more emergent needs, Morgan's bronchoscopy was delayed, but did happen yesterday. The team did not see anything super concerning and after that felt comfortable taking Morgan off the paralytic medication he had been off and starting to wean his sedation.  At this point, Morgan's lungs are healthy enough that it's safe for him to be doing some of the work of breathing.  Additionally, weaning the paralytic allows Morgan to cough up some of the mucous in his lungs. While Morgan is still groggy and on some sedation, he opened his eyes for the first time last night and it was exactly what this Mom's heart needed.

Today the team is continuing to wean his vent settings and it does look like extubation will happen sometime in the next week.
