💜 Meadow’s Journey: Why DMI Therapy Matters

As we prepare for Meadow’s fourth DMI intensive, I wanted to share a little more about one of the biggest pieces of her recovery journey.

DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) is a specialized therapy approach that has made an incredible difference for Meadow. It works on strengthening, postural control, balance, coordination, and helping her body learn and practice movements that support greater independence.

Unfortunately, DMI therapy is not covered by insurance, and because it is an intensive therapy, the cost adds up quickly. But for Meadow, it has been one of the most impactful tools we have found to help her move forward.

Each intensive has brought us a new milestone:

💜 Her first intensive: Meadow learned to sit up independently.

💜 Her second intensive: Meadow learned to crawl.

💜 Her third intensive: Meadow began using her legs more actively and purposefully to help herself move with her gait trainer.

Now, we are preparing for intensive number four.

Our biggest goal is to help Meadow walk independently. We know there are no guarantees, but we also know that her brain and body are capable of learning, adapting, and building new pathways. With neuroplasticity, time and repetition matter, and we want to give Meadow every opportunity we can while she is in this important window of development.

DMI is just one part of Meadow’s journey. We are also continuing to work toward her goals through PT, OT, speech therapy, swimming, and lots of practice at home. Every piece plays a role in helping her become stronger, more independent, and more confident in what her body can do.

We are so proud of how far this little girl has come. What may look like a small movement to someone else can represent months of hard work, hundreds of repetitions, and a whole lot of determination for Meadow. 💜

Our hope is simple: keep giving her opportunities to learn, grow, and move toward independence.
