Hi friends and family,

When we created this page, we set a goal of $25,000. As of today, you all have helped raise $42,003.33 for Maverick.

In just one week, the support for Mav has gone far beyond anything we could have imagined. Friends, family, the NSW community, the special needs community, coworkers, old friends, and complete strangers have donated, shared his story, sent messages, offered resources, and rallied around our family.

We are completely overwhelmed by it in the best possible way.

This season has brought a lot of change for our family. Mavโ€™s dad recently took a full-time job in Austin so we could move closer to the specialists, therapies, and resources opening up for Maverick. Our home is still waiting for the right family to come along for us to pass it on to, so for now, we are traveling back and forth between our little town and Austin to be together when we can and, of course, for Mavโ€™s appointments.

We are more than ready to all be under one roof again, but we know this is in God's timing and we are trusting His plan.

One thing we know for sure is that Maverick starts his first NAPA intensive on September 8th. For three weeks, Monday through Friday, heโ€™ll have four hours of therapy each morning:

One hour of Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI)
One hour of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
Two hours of NeuroSuit

Four hours dedicated to helping him communicate, move, get stronger, and build more independence. We cannot wait to see what he can do with this kind of consistency and repetition.

School also started this week in our hometown, and for now, we have officially become a homeschooling family. Between traveling to Austin, Mavโ€™s appointments, and his upcoming three-week intensive, it simply made the most sense for this season. So we are homeschooling his big sister, Mav, and his little brother while we navigate the transition.

Even though school has started, we are still holding onto summer as tightly as we can.

Our days have been filled with libraries, museums, outdoor walks, accessible parks (Austin has SO many fun ones) and plenty of time playing in the pool. It may not look exactly like what we pictured this school year looking like, but we are โ€œcarrying on,โ€ as we Carreons do, and enjoying the time together.

When we started this page, we simply wanted to make sure finances weren't the reason we ever had to say no to an opportunity for Maverick. You all have taken that goal and blown us away.

The funds raised will help cover his first NAPA Center intensive and give us a strong foundation toward the costs that may come with pursuing his individualized ASO treatment, which is currently in the application process.

This is the path we are pursuing right now based on what we know and the conversations weโ€™ve had with Mavโ€™s medical team, but we also know there is always more to learn. If Mavโ€™s story happens to reach someone who has experience with SPTAN1, ASO treatments, intensive therapies, or another avenue we may not know about yet, we would truly love to hear from you. Please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for believing in him, sharing his story, supporting our family, and helping us give him every opportunity we possibly can. We are truly touched and forever grateful.
