Since returning to Florida after our first round of house and land hunting in Maryland, life has… humbled us a bit. Let’s just say we didn’t bring back a house, but we did bring back a souvenir we didn’t ask for. Everyone got sick. 🤧 Between tissues, recovery mode, and catching up on sleep, things slowed down for a moment. 

 

Once we were back on our feet, we jumped right back into the search. This time virtually. The good news? That trip gave us so much clarity. We now feel far more confident about what we’re looking for and where we should be looking. The not-so-fun part? Reality hit hard. 

 

Finding a home that is accessible, safe, and adaptable for Mateo, within our budget, is not easy. At all. Homes like this are not common, and when they do exist, they often come with a price tag (or a renovation list) that makes you pause, blink twice, and recheck the numbers. 

 

This is exactly why this fundraiser is so important to our family. 

 

We know sacrifices will be required to make this move possible. Fewer extras. Tighter margins. Creative problem-solving. What we are not willing to sacrifice is Mateo’s safety, comfort, and well-being. He deserves more than a home that “will do.” He deserves a home where he can flourish, move safely, grow comfortably, and live with dignity, now and in the years to come.
