Mason Early Family
Hello! Just a couple quick updates today. Mason had an okay night last night with just one round of nausea. They are trying to back down the amount of anti-nausea meds that he is taking, so he is adjusting to a new dosage.
He was up for a bit this morning but spent a lot of the day napping. I just talked with him and his dad is forcing him to play some video games. He told me that he still feels a bit of nausea, but he was drinking some milk while we talked, so he is fighting through it. They were giving him a chance to eat today without the feeding tube, and he said he was enjoying being able to fully breathe through his nose again. They will likely re-insert it within the next few days so that we can help him gain more weight before we start the next round of treatment.
We received the preliminary results from the bone marrow aspiration. The leukemia is reduced to 25-30% in the marrow, down from around 90% when Mason was first diagnosed. That reduction is a "really good" result. The spinal fluid was clear of leukemia as well. The next few days will just be waiting for his medical team to determine the start date and protocol for his second round of chemo, which will likely be put in place by Monday or Tuesday.
We continue to hope for further relief from nausea, an ability to gain some weight back before we start the next round of treatment, and for Mason to have the energy to start moving around a bit more.
