Happy Saturday! Late post because CaringBridge site was down for most of the day...

Mason had an uneventful night last night- thank goodness!

His labs this morning showed a spike in his liver enzymes, so they did take him for an ultrasound this morning, but all looks normal, so they continue to just watch him closely. He remains fever free, which we are grateful for- with the liver enzymes up they are unable to administer Tylenol, and that is our only option to treat fevers.

Alex and I headed to the hospital at lunch time today. When we arrived, Mason was sitting up in bed eating Chick-fil-a (chicken sandwich, large fry, milkshake AND a lemonade). He and John were playing a new game on the PlayStation- building a new land and trying not to get eaten by dinosaurs from what I could tell (clearly I don't know anything about video games...).

Mason had one goal written on his board (we started writing out the daily goal so he could be reminded of it each day)- "Spend time in The Zone with Alex." The Zone is this amazing area set up downstairs that has ALL the games (ping pong, air hockey, indoor basketball, foosball, Pac-Man, etc.) along with entire walls of televisions dedicated to PlayStation and Xbox gaming. There is an arts and crafts corner, and when you step outside, you are either in the middle of a serious basketball court or a 30-yard football field. Just past the playing courts is a beautiful, relaxing koi pond.

So as soon as Mason finished his lunch (and Alex got eaten by a triceratops in the video game), we were able to unhook from all our lines and step into a wheelchair for the trip downstairs. Mason was able to shoot from his chair. It took a few tries to figure out the amount of strength he needed to put behind the shots, but he did end up sinking a few. Then he played air hockey with Alex for 5 minutes. This mama's heart was full- seeing his smile at being able to be outside and shooting baskets again, and playing a game with his brother- it didn't last long but we were thankful for every moment he had enough strength to be out of his bed.

He got tired pretty quickly, so we stopped into the cafeteria on our way back to the room to grab some milk for later, and headed back to bed.

Shortly after we got back to the room, the nurse stopped by to administer some "sleepy" medicine, and they were able to place the feeding tube again. He has been receiving nutrition through it since then and has been out cold in dreamland. He opened one eye for a few minutes and asked me for spaghetti, which I did order for him, but has been asleep since.

Tomorrow is just another day of rest and regaining strength before we determine further treatment course early next week. Specific prayer requests would be continued weight gain and for his liver enzymes to be reduced drastically over the next few days. Thank you!!
