Marchuk Family
Today, I spent the night with Joshua tonight - we had a few meaningful conversation together, and he's holding strong.
Yesterday (July 5th) was Theo's (2nd son) Birthday, and we went to the hospital so that we can spend some time together as a family - it was a good time, but it was not quite a celebration; as it was overshadowed by Joshua being in the hospital.
That same day/night, I spent the night with Joshua at the hospital - we had dinner, a walk through his floor of the hospital (his immune system is at it's lowest, due to Chemo, so we dared not walk in public areas), and quite a few talks about life.
Today (July 6th), Josh and I had breakfast, a light talk, and I went home to try and bring our window trim project closer to finishing. since we need to wrap the construction/remodeling/re-organization (and de-dusting) projects up before he [ideally] comes home from his first round of treatment (out of 4) on the 21st.
While working on the window trim, I couldn't get Joshua's situation out of my mind, so I called him and we had a deep and meaningful conversation with him - about how heartbroken myself and Anna are that he's going through this, and that we both hope he knows how much we appreciate and love him - and that we have faith that he will get better with God's grace.
Toward the middle of the conversation, I could not contain the sorrow (and sadness) in my voice, so I ended up wrapping up the call and told him how much we love him - and followed up with some text messages so that he knows that he's not alone in this battle.
Here are the text messages that I sent him:

"I'm sorry that I got emotional in that call - it's mostly because I'm sad that YOU are going through this, while you should be enjoying your summer break with your brothers and friends.
I would take your place in that hospital room if I could, in a heartbeat.
Mommy and I love and appreciate you so much ❤️
We have faith that you will get better, but it's still heartbreaking and confusing for us as to why God has decided to put YOU through this.
We have faith in God's plan and pray that His plan includes educating us on the reasoning, so we can understand it - and learn from it.
Sorry for the wordy/awkward text, just wanted to share it since my voice started quavering toward the end of that call.
Love you ❤️ dont stress about my feelings - you will understand this once you're a father to your own amazing children
You are a blessing to mommy and I - your strength, along with your personality, are a humbling blessing to our little family and our souls ❤️
Once this is all over and you're cured, we can have longer, way more in depth talk about how God has shown his fingerprints at every step of this situation 🙏
Sorry if this is a little deep/emotional - I felt in my heart that I needed to share a part of my soul with you today ❤️
Summary: we love you. We are sad that you are going through this, but (even though we are sad that you are having to go through this) we have faith in God's plan.
You, Joshua Nikodim Marchuk, are named after two great men of history: Joshua (biblically, a man that was undefeatable as long as he had faith in, and prayed to God), and Nikodim (your grandfather, who sacrificed and helped preserve Christianity in Soviet - and post-Soviet - Ukraine) - both of who did great work in the name of the One True God; so we have faith that this path that you are on, is one that will make you better, spiritually stronger, more insightful, and will bring you (and us) closer to Him, and brings glory to God ❤️"

Apologies for the emotional update - but I felt compelled to share a raw update.
Joshua is in good spirits and the doctors and nurses taking care of him have been nothing but exceptional.
Anna and I remain full of hope and faith - but we do ask that you continue to pray for our strength - including Joshua's - and for us to understand His plan and the path that he has set before us.
Thank you,
Serge, Anna, Joshua, Theodore, Liam, and Ada.
p.s. We continue to feel the blessings from your prayers and support - please do stand by our side in this physical and spiritual battle. Also, make sure to include appreciation and blessings for the army of people praying for Joshua and our family - may the Grace of God not only cover our little family, but also the families of those that are supporting us in this trying, humbling, and spiritually-educational time.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you all.
- Marchuk Family ❤️
P.p.s: I'm sorry if these updates are a little bit too raw and too from the heart but I feel that sharing them is a must. I have checked with Joshua and Anna and they agree that it is okay and it is needed to share these updates. Thank you for your understanding, support, and prayers ❤️
