Lori’s Update – Road Bumps & Fighting Through the First Chemo Recovery

Lori completed her first round of chemo — and it was tougher than she remembered. Treatment was on a Friday, and it took nearly a full week before she started to feel better. By Thursday, she was finally turning a corner… but the very next day, things took an unexpected turn.

Severe back pain hit, sending her back to bed and then to the ER. Doctors discovered that the kidney shunt placed earlier this summer had been compromised and needed replacing. She underwent surgery over the weekend and spent two nights in the hospital.

Today, Lori is finally home. She’s recovering as best she can, but because her kidney was so inflamed, she’s back to using her external nephrostomy tube and “buddy pack” to give her kidney time to rest and heal.

As a single mom, Lori is determined to get back on her feet so she can work, but chemo and recovery are slowing her down. This is where we can help.

Donate – Every contribution helps cover her bills while she’s unable to work.

Share – Spread the word about her Support Now page so more people can join the effort.

Meals – We’ve added an extra meal to the calendar since chemo hit harder than expected. Opportunities are open for Sept 12, 13, and 15. You can cook, send takeout, or even DoorDash

Auction – Donations are slowly coming in: gift cards, landscaping design service, a beautiful bag, housewares, and more. We are trying to gather enough items to launch the auction soon. If you have unused gift cards, new items, event tickets, or business services to donate, please text me (Jennie Dopp) as soon as possible at 801-726-2524. We would like to get the auction up sooner rather than later. The funds we've raised so far have gone to medical bills. Now we need to help Lori cover lost income. House payments come due regardless of a cancer diagnosis.

We’re already 53% of the way to our goal because of your kindness and generosity. Lori is so grateful for every single meal, dollar, and message of encouragement.

Let’s keep this momentum going — together, we can help Lori focus on healing and being the amazing mom she is. 💚
