I got my port removed today!

Last week, I also turned 40 years old and while it might seem like I don't mind asking for help these days, it actually makes me very uncomfortable. At the same time, I refuse to compromise my medical care because I’m unwilling to ask for the support I need.

As you know, Brandon lost his job of 19 years shortly before I was diagnosed and our remaining COBRA health insurance is set to expire in October. The insurance codes which provide coverage for DIEP flaps have also been eliminated so there's a lot of uncertainty as far as my future insurance coverage and final breast reconstruction goes.

Plus, neither of us have been able to earn a consistent income since I was diagnosed and all of the holistic treatments I receive (integrative oncologist, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, supplements, gas for Stanford appointments, etc) have to be paid out of pocket, so the expenses continue to stack up. All of these unnecessary barriers are super stressful and scary so I have little choice but to call on my communities for assistance.
