I’m excited to tell you that I finished chemotherapy today! My treatment consisted of 4 rounds of AC and 4 rounds of Taxol. Overall, I’ve tolerated it better than I had imagined but my body really struggled with the second half (the bone/joint pain and hot flashes are brutal). I’m also grateful I never have to wear a cold cap again!
Next week, I go to Stanford for an MRI to prep for surgery in mid-May, with 4-6 weeks of radiation to follow. In a perfect world, I'm hoping for a lumpectomy with a clear sentinel node biopsy (so they don't have to remove more than one lymph node) but ultimately, that depends on how well the cancer responded to the chemo so we just have to see how it goes.
There’s now also a slight chance that our COBRA benefits are going to end after October and that would complicate things all the more if I need additional surgery and / or reconstruction, so I appreciate your ongoing prayers and good vibes for my quick healing.
I also want to thank you once again for all the donations, gifts, and messages of love and support. It really has carried me through to know that so many of you care about my wellbeing and I’m eternally grateful. Onward!
Love,
Linz
