Lincoln Hocevar
Well, it’s been a scary, rollercoaster of a week. While Lincoln was getting chemo over the weekend, we noticed he had new vision changes. He couldn’t write or read anything up close. The doctors didn’t really say anything about it at the time.
After being discharged Monday, Dave sent an email expressing our concerns with this new symptom. Our doctor responded pretty quickly and got us in to see a Neuro Ophthalmologist on Tuesday. We were there almost all day and then went to Scottish for a “quick” MRI.
Yesterday morning the doctor called Dave and told him the tumor has increased in size. She explained this could be due to a few things, but one of which is the tumor may not be responding to treatment or the tumor could be swollen in response to treatment which she has seen before. She then sent us to have blood drawn for tumor markers. It was a very long and emotional day, we tried to stay positive but the thought of the tumor not responding to treatment was terrifying.
The doctor called us last night with the incredible news that Lincoln’s tumor markers are way down and this means the tumor is responding to treatment! The swelling should go down and hopefully the vision changes will resolve over time. So while it’s been emotionally draining and all the doctors and hospital visits have really had Lincoln feeling down, we are beyond grateful for this news.
