We are on day 2 on DMI (dynamic movement intervention) in a beautiful ranch in Sarasota. The first hour of the session the 2 therapist are figuring out what muscles and nerves need situation by NISE-STIM(Non-Invasive Spinal Electrical Stimulation) therapy uses mild electrical currents via skin electrodes to stimulate the spinal cord, bridging gaps in nerve signals to help activate muscles for movement, posture, and function. This encourages muscles to contract, improving motor control, strength, and range of motion. Also sends impulses from the spinal cord to nerves, helping to restore the brain-to-muscle connection that's disrupted by neurological conditions. After the week is over the therapist will go over the different placements so that this could be done at home every day twice a day for 30mins. The 2nd hour is hippotherapy while riding a horse the movement of a horse to provides carefully graded motor and sensory input. The goal is to engage the Lian's sensory, neuromotor, and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes, such as improved balance, posture, and mobility. The repetitive, rhythmic movement of the horse challenges Lian to constantly adjust his posture and balance to stay seated on the horse, thereby activating and strengthening core muscles and improving neuromuscular function. The therapist manipulates the horse's gait (speed, tempo, direction) and Lian's position on the horse sitting forwards, backward, lying prone). It has been to interesting to see these two gifted therapist brainstorm to help Lian this week and in the future. I've teared up these last 2 days with my heart overflowing with gratitude to each and every one of you that have given towards Lian's therapies.
