Have you ever measured time by when the tears fall? Not by hours but if you can make it through the night? Do they fall first thing before the sun rises? On a drive. Through a song. In the middle of a dressing change or diaper change. Is it the last thing you remember as you drift off at night? The weight we carry for our little girl is just so heavy. And yet we know that God collects our tears (Psalms 56:8). He is close to us in our suffering. He is with Leah in her pain.
We keep thinking that each day will get better… That she is going to bounce back like she has with each surgery. But she seems to just be in more pain. She’s no longer walking normal. She squats with legs bowed and walks like a duck. Her harvest sites are weeping. Peeing is painful if not protected properly and all the dressing are attached with coban that has to be pulled off to replace even just the outer ace bandages if they get wet or pooped on. She cries “owie owie owie” over and over and now little brother Josiah says it too
Speaking of little bro. He had to be ran to the doctor this morning and still has his double ear infection. They had to do antibiotic shots because oral ones aren’t working. He has to go back for additional doses for the next 3 days and we need to get him to the ENT for tubes…
We are trying to take it moment by moment, and not get overwhelmed by the crazy…
