Laura has been one of my dearest friends since God crossed our paths overseas over a decade ago. We shared daily life overseas for about 4 years before moving to different cities. God answered our echoing prayers to our great delight with children born in the same years. Some of my sweetest memories are from living down the road from each other—vacations, holidays, and opening a business together—and I’m grateful our friendship has continued to thrive across time zones.
As a mother of a medically complex child myself, I sympathize with the unique life they live and the additional challenges that come with caring for Laura’s miracle daughter. Laura loves her little girl just as fiercely as we all love our children- while also carrying the extra responsibilities for her nursing and physical care, advocating for her educational and medical needs, constant planning and preparation for anticipated (and unanticipated) care, and navigating all the coordination and communication between specialists that make up her medical team. All the while, Laura works tirelessly and intentionally to invest in her son’s life, ensuring he feels heard, deeply cared for, and given every opportunity to flourish. I admire the purposeful ways she disciples her children to love Jesus in every season- all while struggling through her own battles.
Laura has been one of the most faithful friends I could have ever asked for, always giving generously of herself to support me in my deepest valleys. She gives all she has to provide for her two children without fail. I pray that we can rally around Laura to support her in her deepest valley and help her secure housing where she can continue to provide a stable and safe environment for the three of them to share.
