Hello friends,
It has been a little while since I have provided an update...

Truth be told, I have been feeling quite "rough" as my body still keeps trying to slip back into Adrenal Crisis. I've had a few moments over the past week that I thought EMS may need called, thankfully that hasn't been the case.  I've gained about 15lbs in water weight from the steroids, I've been randomly falling asleep, have zero energy and taking a shower is simply too much and to painful even.

Thankfully today I had an urgent video follow up appointment with my Functional Medicine Doctor due to the severity of the symptoms. In order to attempt to pull me completely out of this crisis, we are going high dose steroids 3 times per day for 3 days, then from there doubling my typical "daily" dosing. I truly hope that this makes a difference, I never thought I would see a day that holding a cell phone is "too heavy", or taking a shower is "too much" and will exhaust me for the rest of the day.

I am so ready and hopeful to be on the appropriate treatment plan for my body specifically. Unfortunately, I cannot get in with Endocrinologist until September 17th, so we (Functional Medicine PCP and I) are doing our best until that appointment to keep me out of the hospital and hopefully on a positive path forward.

He also ordered for ACTH Stimulation testing to be done on Monday the 17th. This will help determine whether or not the Adrenal Insufficiency is PRIMARY (Addisons Disease) or Secondary (Dysfunction with Hypothalamus in the brain, pituitary gland is not producing enough ACTH). The only thing that I am nervous about-- Is that I cannot be on my regular steroids for 24hrs prior to the rest. I did get an alternate for just those 24 hours which will be suitable, I just hope it works well.

Outside of feeling like for the most part I am simply living to stay out of the hospital and stay alive (How I pray for BETTER vs. HARD days to come soon. I know they are coming; I must have patience and trust in God. He's got this.) I have been utilizing the time to simply rest at the request of my body and putting ME first for once in my life. I've also been educating myself further regarding Adrenal Insufficiency so that I can hopefully become a solid source for another person in the future if needed. I am a Nurse, a helper by trade...I can't help myself, literally.

There is still so much light to be seen in each day. I've slowed down, a lot, and in doing so I really am able to appreciate the smallest of things in this life. My relationship with God has grown immensely and I am watching new buds in my life begin to blossom.

I did create a Facebook Page that I'd love to have you all follow. What you will see is updates, lighthearted clean humor and faith-based content. You'll also get the occasional glimpse of my silly porch goose, Cardi Beak.

I may be going through quite the trial, but I'll be darned if I ever let something keep me from making another person laugh or smile. Including myself.

Until the next update.... take care my friends!

Love,
Krystle
