Emmy is officially done with Frontline treatment for Leukemia!
Emmy has had so many hurdles through these initial phases, but she has proved herself the strongest girl I know.
Earlier this week she was disconnected from her continuous infusion “backpack” and ran out of the office yelling “I’m free”.
Yesterday she was outside playing with her cousins and came to whisper in my ear “I’m so happy to play without my backpack”. 🥰
She has a lot more energy lately and becoming quite the daredevil- I try to restrain myself from being over protective(it’s not going well) and just let her live.
Next week we will start long term maintenance.
This means less office visits and less frequent port access. Every month she will get her blood counts checked, and every 3 months she will get IV chemo, a Lumbar Puncture and steroid pulse(this is actually the worst part). Emmy will also take daily chemo pills at home. This will be something to get used to but we have full confidence she can do it!
Our journey through leukemia will continue over the next 16 months. But we look forward to having more flexibility, less port access, and hopefully less side effects. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with less worry.
Im reminding myself frequently that Emmy likes to make her own plans, so we will stay cautious and not get too excited.
But how could we not celebrate all she has over come!?!

We truly could not have made it through the last 11 months without the support of our family, friends and community. There’s nothing I could say to express my gratitude to everyone who did anything for us during this time! I know in the beginning we had so many gifts sent to the house and may not have been able to thank everyone individually- but please know we know who you are and we appreciate you!
We have also had SO many foundations support us. Without that support we would not be starting LTM(Long Term Maintenance) with as much hope for a “back to normal” life. One of my main priorities when Emmy was diagnosed was to make sure that that the girls continued to feel safe and loved in a familiar environment and routine. And because of the support from foundations/family/friends/community-we were able to keep the girls lives as stable as possible.
From paying our mortgage, to our utilities, to gas and groceries cards, to sending us on fun outing, or sending special gifts- it made all the difference in our journey!
Every gift, activity and donation the girls have received is SO deserved!

We appreciate continued support and prayers for Emmy’s continued fight against leukemia for the next 1+ years.
