One Month Down
Koehn Family
We have officially spent 1 month in the hospital and are 3 days away from being done with the first phase of treatment, the "Induction" phase. The doctors told us from the beginning that this would be a roller coaster- and that it is. We have stopped asking and wishing to go home, and have accepted it for what it is. The best place for Emmy to be is in the Hospital right now.
She will not be pleased when she realizes she missed a "parade day" on Monday. But we will make it up to her with very extravagant parade days in the future.
We would appreciate lots of prayers as we go into next week. Tuesday she will have her end of induction bone marrow biopsy, these results will determine the next course of treatment. In the mean time, we are working with GI and the hem/onc team to determine why her liver enzymes are elevated and hoping we see them start to decline. She's also had a fun last 24 hours doing a bowel cleanse and has been unable to eat. Shes been asking how many laps she needs to walk in the hall for us to let her have Chinese food- the doctors find this ammusing. 😊
She is such a trooper and we know she will get through all these hurdles.
Our continued gratitude goes out to everyone supporting us in any and all ways possible!
❤️The Koehns
