Christopher is officially back home! The doctors at TIRR were uncomfortable discharging him home via a 6+ day road trip so they worked hard to clear him medically for a commercial flight. A special thank you to Anna and Demetri, for doing a lot of the heavy lifting (literally), to make the flight possible. There were a lot of pieces to figure out logistically, financially, emotionally, and so many supporters to make it happen—thank you to all that made it possible. I certainly could not have done it alone. Having him home has brought a little peace of mind to us all and we are happy to have him back in the same state (easier for me to keep tabs on him 😂).

Although having him home is nice, the hard work of finding him proper 24/7 care has begun. My body hurts and it’s only been a few days 😭. The struggle of doing this with only a few dedicated individuals is presenting to be unrealistic and unsustainable. After this post, I’ll likely solicit our community for help in covering his care financially until social security disability insurance kicks in. I wish I were rich and afford this but….I am not and I can’t 😩. I’ve explored selling our home, renting our home, going into debt, filing for bankruptcy,  facilities for him, and home care aid options. All are possibilities but require concessions be made to keep afloat. Again, if anyone has ideas, I’m open to suggestions.

With him home, if anyone wants to visit, please let us know. Best times are typically when he’s most alert, 8am-11ish, and then again between 4-8pm. These times fluctuate often so just reach out and we will let you know.
