Kis-Young Family
I want to share an important and very difficult update. After much thought, guidance from his care team, and deep consideration of who Christopher is and what matters most to him, I have made the decision to transition to comfort-focused care. This choice reflects the seriousness of his illness and the lasting effects it has caused, with no real path back to a quality of life he would have wanted.
My focus now is on keeping him comfortable, peaceful, and surrounded by care, honoring his dignity and the values he lived by. This means letting go of treatments that might prolong his body’s survival but would not serve his comfort or reflect the life he would have chosen for himself. Continuing aggressive treatment at this point would serve the needs of others more than it would serve him, and I believe he would not want that.
Visits are welcome and deeply appreciated. I kindly ask that time with him be calm, gentle, and reassuring, and that visitors avoid complicated questions or conversations that could be confusing or distressing, as these are not in line with comfort-focused care.
Our two sons are aware that their dad is nearing the end of his life on earth. We take comfort in knowing that his life will continue in God’s presence. Your prayers, love, and support for our family during this time mean more than we can express. Thank you for holding us in your thoughts and hearts, and for supporting our family with kindness and respect as we move through this together.
