Kelly Shirley
It has been a blessing to welcome Kelly back home and give her a chance to sleep in her own bed and surround her with more family and friends.
The past few days have been filled with us adapting to a new reality. Kelly's days have been mixed with both positives and negatives. While they did send Kelly home with oxygen, she has had to depend on it more than expected. We're starting to find our groove with when to take certain medications and draining her pluerx around 9pm every night. This usually gives Kelly some relief in hopes of her sleeping better.
Kelly completed here 9th radiation treatment today. One more to go! Unfortunately her 9th was filled with a bit more drama than the 8 previous. Prior to her treatment today Kelly dealt with some low oxygen levels and struggled to complete her radiation. The staff elected to drain her pluerx early hoping it would provide her the needed relief to complete the treatment. Thankfully draining the pluerx worked and she was able to complete the treatment. Surprisingly none of the staff at the radiology office was that familiar with draining a pluerx so they allowed me to "scrub" in and do it for them. Guess if the marketing doesn't work out, I can explore the healthcare field. : )
Tomorrow will be a busy day as Kelly will complete her 10th radiation treatment. We also have a follow up appointment with the pulmonary oncologist. We're hopeful we will learn more on the molecular testing results which will dictate the more long term treatment plan.
Thank you for your continued support!
