Kelly Shirley
Hi Everyone,
It's been a minute since I shared an update on Kelly. She is now a week and a half removed from being discharged from the hospital and about two and a half weeks removed from her thoracic surgery which included a pericardial window. While still dealing with some soreness from the surgery, Kelly continues to show progress everyday.
This past week was a busy week with three different doctor follow up appointments (Pulmonary, Cardiology, Oncology). We're happy to report that all appointments went very well with each doctor expressing their happiness with Kelly's progress. While Pulmonary will keep her on oxygen for the next 3 months, they have approved for her last pleurx drain to be removed. Cardiology continues to monitor her heart rate and blood pressure but has approved Kelly to start weaning off some of the medications she left the hospital with. The best news came from her Oncologist who (while on the verge of tears) shared that Kelly's masses had shown great improvement. She described her largest mass going from a baseball size down to a golf ball. We are currently at the one month mark since starting her targeted therapy treatment.
I personally couldn't be more pleased with Kelly's progress and the care that she is getting from all of her doctors. It's been a blessing to have Kelly back home and to see her continued improvement everyday. This coming week will bring follow ups with her Thoracic doctor and her Radiologist. We pray that those appointments will render the same good results as the others.
Our family continues to be showered with overwhelming levels of support that we are eternally grateful for. Thank you for the continued prayers and support as we navigate the days ahead.
