Joy Brown and Family
Joy was taken back at 7:38 this morning. After about an hour and a half she was fully under and the operations are now underway. I’ve learned the OR nurse actually texts me updates every hour or so, so that’s reassuring! I’ll share any updates of note.
They’re starting with the strip craniectomy, then will do the lip/nose repair, and the ENT doctor will quickly place the ear tubes at the very end. All together they’re expecting things to take about 6 hours since so much is happening, but they won’t rush it. Afterwards Joy will be taken to PICU to have her recovery closely monitored for 2-3 days. We were initially told it would only be 2 days so the thought of being here an extra day than originally planned is a little draining to think about.
I was an emotional mess this morning (I blame the 2 hours of sleep I got) but Daniel has been great at distracting me during our long wait. I’ve already made friends with the Starbucks cashier with how often I’ve stopped by 😅
It’s going to be a long day. Thank you for all the continued prayers!
