Joy Brown and Family
This morning I finally got the long-awaited pre-op phone call with instructions for Joy’s surgery. Our check-in time at Children’s Medical Center is 5:30am on Monday🥱 Our social worker is coordinating with the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas to try and get us into a room on Sunday so we don’t have to make the long drive Monday morning, but we won’t know until Saturday -or even Sunday- if there will be an empty room available. Please join us in prayer that a room will be open for us and that we’ll be able to get settled in on Sunday afternoon! If it works out, the plan is to have my mom come up on Sunday to help me get the kids packed up and settled at RMHD, with Daniel meeting up with us in the evening after he gets off work.
The surgery start time is 7:30am and is expected to last until 1:17pm (yes they did give me such a specific time). Joy has to stop all feeds by 3:30am which is honestly later than I had anticipated!
On a different note- Joy had her last appointment with orthodontics yesterday. We have nearly come to the end of our journey with her NAM and tape! She has come to actually prefer to have it in than out so the transition to being without it will be tough. It’s helped her with her eating skills a lot since it’s something in the roof of her mouth that she can press against so pray with us she’s able to easily re-learn how to eat without it!
Her weigh in yesterday was 12 lb 5.4oz — 29th%! That’s an increase of 10 percentile points in 3 weeks! At this rate we should be up to the 50th% by the end of the year ❤️
Thank you all for the support and prayers!
