We wanted to share an update on Trace's journey.
Since this page was first created, Trace has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP), adding another layer to the challenges he faces every day. While this diagnosis brings new uncertainties, it also gives us a clearer path toward therapies, treatments, and resources that can help him reach his fullest potential.
Trace recently completed his first infusion at Duke. Although he was not happy about the blood draws and IV placement, he handled the treatment like a champ and had no adverse reactions. His second and final Duke infusion is scheduled for September 8th.
Since returning home, Trace has been working incredibly hard and is now participating in additional therapies on a daily basis. We are doing everything we can to maximize this critical period of neuroplasticity, when a young child's brain has its greatest ability to adapt, learn, and form new connections. Because of this, timing is especially important, and we are focused on providing him with as many opportunities as possible to build on every gain he makes.
As we approach the completion of the Duke treatment protocol, we are actively researching and exploring additional options, including MUSE stem cell therapies and other emerging treatments that may benefit Trace in the future.
We remain hopeful and committed to giving Trace every opportunity possible. Thank you to everyone who has supported, prayed for, donated to, and encouraged our family throughout this journey. Your kindness has helped make these treatments and opportunities possible, and we are incredibly grateful.
We will continue to share updates as Trace progresses and as we learn more about the next steps in his care. Thank you for continuing to follow his journey and for being part of Team Trace.
