Just found out today that the motion for Stand Your Ground has been DENIED!
PRAISE THE LORD!!
I can't thank all of y'all enough for your constant prayers and checking up on us concerning this. It means so much to me and Joshua.
What this means now:
1) Here in Florida, the charges still stand and we now proceed to a jury trial. As of right now, we do not know when a trial will be.
2) He has filed a motion to be released on bond. We don't have a separate hearing scheduled for that so, for now, I am assuming this hearing will be done on an already-scheduled case management hearing on March 25th. Please pray he is NOT released!
As always, I will keep y'all posted!
P.S. For those who are brand new to these posts and aren't familiar with Stand Your Ground law in Florida, if the motion had been approved it means all charges would have been dropped and the man who shot my husband would go free. Here in Florida, when someone files a motion claiming Stand Your Ground a special hearing is done where it goes before a judge and the judge decides if this falls under Florida's Stand Your Ground laws or not. Since the motion failed, this now kicks the case back over to the normal route and that is why we are now headed to a jury trial.
