Picture: Joshua and I at midnight welcoming 2026! We are glad 2025 is over lol To say "we survived" is the understatement of the year.
My heavens, it's been 3 months since my last update. Time is flying.
Not a single day goes by that someone does ask us how Joshua is doing. We are so thankful for every single one of y'all who continue to reach out, pray for us, and support us.
OK...so for the updates.
I realize I left y'all hanging about his surgery ha Joshua did have 2 of the bullets removed. The surgery went very well (he was able to go home that day), but, unfortunately, it hasn't helped his pain like we thought it would.
I wish I could say that his pain has gotten better. It has and then it hasn't. It has been SO DIFFICULT to manage his pain and we still struggle with it.
This year we are trying other routes to see if we're able to get his pain to more manageable levels.
Please continue to pray that the Lord will give us wisdom and show us what to do.
For those who are curious, Joshua posted his own update on his YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/mf5feMTK9VQ?si=coUUZFuKKC5_WJGm so you can hear directly from him!
Now...for the serious, urgent prayer request right now.
The man who shot my husband has filed a "Stand Your Ground" motion. This means he is claiming self-defense.
However, here in Florida, this means that a special hearing is done before a judge to determine if this falls under the "Stand Your Ground" law of Florida.
If the judge rules this was self defense and that it falls under Stand Your Ground, he goes free and charges are dropped. That's the end.
If the judge rules against the Stand Your Ground motion, then the case continues as usual.
OBVIOUSLY, we want this motion to fail and it go before a jury trial.
The Stand Your Ground hearing is this Monday, February 16th. PLEASE PRAY.
Not only are we wanting justice, but also please pray for Joshua. He is a main witness and will have to testify at this hearing and have to recall every single thing. Pray that the Lord will sustain him through this because it is very traumatizing to him to have to recall all the details of that day.
Regardless of the outcome, I pray that the Lord's will be done. He is ultimately in control of all things and we will continue to trust Him and in Him alone throughout this whole journey.
Once again, we thank y'all for your continued support and prayers. And I promise not to leave y'all hanging this time when we have the results from this hearing :-)
