Hey y'all!
Quick update because we are OFFICIALLY starting the trial this Monday, October 5th.
Based on the timeline, we are predicting a jury verdict on Thursday maybe Friday morning if there are hiccups/jury takes a long time to deliberate. In my experience watching the justice system work during this entire ordeal, I expect there will be delays and hiccups.
Joshua and I are both witnesses and are NOT allowed to be in the courtroom for any parts of the trial except when we are testifying. We will be allowed inside the courtroom during closing statements and, of course, when the jury gives their verdict.
YES, this is very frustrating to me not being able to observe the trial, however, all witnesses are sequestered in order to (hopefully) avoid a mistrial.
If you are local, the trial is open to the public and we ask that any and all friends and family attend to show support!
Prayer Requests
1) Obviously, pray for guilty verdicts on all charges. He is being charged with "second-degree attempted murder" and "aggravated battery with a deadly weapon resulting in great bodily harm." For the maximum penalty, we need a guilty verdict on BOTH counts.
2) Pray for Joshua and I both, especially on Wednesday, October 7th when we each will take the stand. Joshua's testimony will be the longest. I suspect he will be on the stand for a few hours. Please pray for his mental clarity, and for the physical strength to get through it. He is in constant chronic pain, so please pray the Lord gives him a "good" pain day!
3) Right now, we are also dealing with a kitchen remodel and UNFORTUNATELY, we made the mistake of hiring the wrong guy to start. He completely demolished my kitchen, put down some flooring (not finished), then took off with A LOT of our money. So on top of this trial, I now have zero kitchen, dealing with a thief, and trying to line up GOOD contractors to finish our kitchen. Please pray that we don't make the same mistakes again, and that we get our money back and/or the thief is brought to justice (under Florida law, this does constitute as Construction Fraud which is a 3rd degree felony).
This is my life, y'all.
For anyone who is local:
We have an open house invitation to all of our friends and family in our area to come to our house on Thursday (or Friday) after the jury verdict. Food will be provided! Hopefully it will be a celebration of justice! Call or text me or Joshua if you don't know our address.
We are looking forward to having this chapter closed, one way or another. No matter what the outcome, the Lord will still be praised and may He always be glorified!
