Picture: Joshua getting acupuncture. Super weird to see!!!
Got several updates for y'all in this one.
First of all, the trial date has been scheduled. Jury selection begins August 3, 2026 and that's what starts the trial.
Please pray for everyone involved. It's going to be a difficult time for our family, especially since Joshua will have to testify, yet again, and I know this process will be much longer than the one-day Stand Your Ground hearing. We've been told trials for cases like this can take about a week.
Please pray that the jury finds him guilty on all counts.
We do have hearings in July that may cause the trial to be pushed back, but as of right now the trial is in August.
Secondly, the defense has appealed the Stand Your Ground decision. That is going through the appellate courts right now and we are waiting on the decision. Please pray the appellate court does NOT reverse it! If they do, then charges are dropped and he goes free. No idea how long this will take to receive a decision.
Third update: on a lighter note, Joshua has started acupuncture. This has been one of the very few things suggested to us by MANY people including neurosurgeons and other people who have been shot.
We are going to an excellent acupuncturist. She came highly recommended and she's been great.
Right now, it's still too early to tell if it's helping his pain. PLEASE pray that this helps.
Fourth update: speaking of pain, Joshua's pain has not decreased at all. In fact it has gotten worse. He now deals with sciatic pain at times and now he also is dealing with slipped discs (our diagnosis) in his lower back. Huge problem considering he SITS all the time.
Right now we are working on getting imaging for him. It has to be a specific type of imaging because he's unable to do an MRI thanks to a bullet and metal fragments still being inside.
Please pray that this new imaging will give us answers and for good doctors who can help lead us in the right direction.
Fifth update: Joshua has recorded a song! This is a song that he wrote 20 years ago, but never recorded.
I told him he needed to record this (and others) because he almost died last year and his children would never have heard him sing it. This song has even more meaning now having been through everything in the past year.
My husband has an amazing voice. One of the biggest tragedies since he was shot is that it is so painful for him to sing now. But he powered through to get this done!
You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNWqtjhJeRU
As always, thank y'all SO MUCH for all of your love, prayers, and support! It means the world to us.
May the Lord be glorified in everything that we do.
