Picture: Baby Joshua and Felicia 15 years ago on our wedding day! We didn't know what life would bring us, but we knew it wouldn't be boring and it would be an adventure!
Well, today is our 15th wedding anniversary! We are both so thankful that we are able to celebrate it this year. It looks way different than we planned, but I am so thankful Joshua is alive and here with us despite the attempt against his life back in March.
The Lord has been so good to us. The first best decision I ever made in my life was choosing to follow Christ. The second best decision was marrying Joshua.
As far as updates go, we have a big one to share!
Joshua saw his neurosurgeon on Friday, the 30th, and his spine is looking great and he now doesn't have to wear his back brace anymore! Woo hoo!!
The neurosurgeon was also very pleased with how his spine is healing - his alignment and spacing are all looking great. Praise the Lord!
Without the brace this allows him to sit up past 30 degrees. He said it was weird for him to be sitting without it. Yesterday was the first time he has been able to sit up in almost 3 months without a brace.
This now means that we can begin the process for him to go back to in-patient rehab for further rehab treatment because he now has no restrictions he has to follow.
In the meantime, he has been doing workouts at home to build his strength back and also doing mental exercises where he looks at his toes, feet, legs, etc and tries to get them to move.
As hokey as this sounds, it is a therapy technique that has been recommended by many physical therapists and I also believe it can really help his nerves and neurons to reconnect.
Specific prayer requests:
1) Continue to pray for funds to be available for a van plus the modifications needed so we can transport Joshua AND our entire family wherever we need to go.
2) Finances for all the medical bills and also the money needed for whatever rehab he is needing. We are actually having some difficulty in one area of getting his bills covered, so please pray for this. The Lord knows!
3) As always - for Joshua's full healing and him to walk again. I told him today that just as I was sure he was who I was suppose to marry, I feel just as strongly about him walking again! He is also in daily, constant pain. It's more manageable now, but still continue to pray it gets better.
4) For the investigation. Praise the Lord, the last hearing the judge, once again, ruled no bond so the man who shot my husband will remain in jail. Pray that justice will be served.
Once again, we thank you for all of your continued support and prayers! And if you're wanting to donate to help us with expenses and finally getting a new van, just click on the "view support registry" right below this text!

At Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland, a man who had been paralyzed from the waist down for over a decade just took steps again β not with exoskeletons or braces, but by using a digital bridge between his brain and spinal cord.
Neurosurgeons implanted two wireless devices: one on his motor cortex (inside his skull) and one on his spinal cord. These implants decode the manβs intention to walk and send signals directly to the lower spine, bypassing the damaged area completely. No cables. No external assistance.
With a few weeks of training, the man could walk across a room, climb stairs, and even navigate uneven ground. His movements were not robotic or jerky β they were fluid, responsive, and conscious. This is the first time a full digital bypass of a spinal injury has resulted in real-world, self-initiated walking.
The system uses machine learning to decode brain signals in real-time and adapts over time to match the patient's movement goals. It's not just a tool β it's an extension of the nervous system.
And as incredible as it sounds, the manβs original spinal cord function began showing signs of natural reconnection after several weeks, suggesting that stimulation may promote healing too.
Neurotechnology has reached a point where thought alone can resurrect motion β even after years of silence.
