Jordan Lee's Journey
Hi Everyone,
I hope this finds you all well! Jordan has been one busy lady. She had her last day of school this week and last Friday, she finished a three week Intensive at NAPA Center. What is that, you ask? NAPA stands for Neurological and Physical Abilitation Center. They are a pediatric therapy center offering physical, occupational, and speech therapy for kids with neurological disorders. As for the intensive part - well, for three weeks, three hours a day, Jordan worked on gross motor skills, transitions, and strength building. She worked with physical and occupational therapists to gain strength and balance, practice sitting and standing, and worked on arm and shoulder strength and the use of her hands. She also did one hour of speech therapy each day and she did AMAZING!
In the picture, Jordan is wearing something called a nuero suit (aka her "super suit"), which helped with proprioception, alignment, and strength building with resistance bands. These intensives live up to their name. They are intense. Every day for three weeks we drove close to Boston for four hours of therapy. Schedules were disrupted, sleep was impacted, and for me, they're always loaded with emotions as I watch Jordan work so hard and then experience this sense of satisfaction when she's accomplished something she was working for. She is the definition of grit to me - so persistent, so passionate, and she preserves.
With love,
Anne
