Jazmyne's Promise
Last update we shared that Jazmyne was breaking through fevers… unfortunately the fevers have continued. We’re now on day 5 of consistent high fevers.
As we mentioned before, fevers can be a sign of an infection. Blood cultures are taken every 24 hours whenever a fever is present to check for any bacterial or fungal infection trying to invade her body. All five cultures this week have come back NEGATIVE—Praise God!! 🙌🏼
However, Jazmyne is still spiking high fevers every 6 hours and is now dealing with diarrhea as well. So there is still a huge concern that something in her body is trying to attack—what that is, we still don’t know yet.
Our next step is a full body CT scan with contrast, along with a Karius blood test. This specialized blood test can detect and identify over 1,000 different bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, giving the doctors a much deeper look into what could be causing these fevers. The CT scan should help us pinpoint the location of a possible infection, while the Karius test can help identify the type of infection her body may be fighting.
To complete the CT scan, a peripheral IV will need to be placed since her central line isn’t safe to use for contrast. And as we all know… Jazmyne is not a fan of IV needles. 💔 Please keep her in your prayers for comfort and calm during this part.
We are praying that this combination gives us the answers we need so her doctors can finally target whatever is going on and bring these fevers to an end.
We continue to pray for answers, clarity, and complete healing. Thank you all for standing with us. 💛🙏🏼
PRYER REQUEST:
~scans and blood labs would determine the cause of the fevers
~the oncology team along with the infection disease team would work together and come up with the best medical approach to attack these fevers
~Jazmyne would be calm receiving her IV
