Yesterday would have been the day that I would have gone in for another round of treatment. I am so, so glad that I did not have to go! I know that I will have more treatments in my life, but I am so thankful to be done with this one. My body is still tired, my immune system is still low, I still have no hair, and side effects linger. But I am starting to feel more like myself. I'm officially off all of the meds (though I might have to start some new ones if a few side effects don't improve). I'm excited to see more things return to normal - or normal-ish. I've been able to start some projects around the house that have been neglected for the last several months (though I still have a long way to go!). I'm starting to look ahead to the next year and plan some travel and some new things for Hannah. I really hope that I can see all of these plans through and not be thwarted by a recurrence. I have hated feeling like our family life has been on hold this year. My next scan and follow-ups are in September. Please keep praying for good news and for good decisions about next steps.
As for Hannah, she has a busy month. We've seen four of her specialists in recent weeks, and yesterday we went for an autism evaluation. We have been on the waitlist for an evaluation for over two years. She is a tough case to evaluate, mainly due to her other conditions. She has stumped most of the professionals she deals with. What we're really after with this evaluation is not the diagnosis - it's a plan of action and strategies that will best suit her. And it might also open up more resources. So we're praying that the evaluator would have clarity. We will get the results in a couple of weeks. Hannah is also going for her annual appointment with the experts in her visual impairment in a couple of weeks. Her visual impairment is unique in that it can improve over time. I don't think that it's likely to have improved over this past year, but I could be wrong. And we've decided to do another year of preschool, so we'll have an open house for preschool in a couple of weeks, as well. We're also in the process of gathering paperwork to see if Hannah qualifies for a research study. And we need to reschedule her PT intensive in Texas that we missed this year due to my treatment. So there's a lot on the horizon for Hannah, and we're just praying that we would be able to discern clearly, make wise decisions for her, and that God would grant us the time and resources to make happen whatever she needs.
So thanks again for your continued prayers and support and for reading this brief update. More soon.
