Where is our Hope?

It’s just not easy. The reality settles in, and you embrace the diagnosis you’ve been given, BUT you also refuse and reject that your future is now being determined by a disease and doctors.  That’s my world right now, and we are learning so much about what it means to trust each day to the One who has created the day. What does that look like to release any remote thought or semblance of any control, and rest in God’s full assurance that He, and no one else, is guiding the minutes of each day and His will is the only will being done? It’s a different level of trust and reliance when you’re given the news of brain cancer and told your outlook is not good.

What eventually will rise to the top is whatever, or whoever, you’re trusting in. It’s inevitable and you can be confident that your true source of hope will emerge through all the noise around you. So for me, and us, right now it’s all Jesus. No other options. No other choices. Just Him. He has been so faithful to me as a Christ-follower and to us as a married couple. Why would we look to anchor our trust in any other place?  We have been sent so many verses and reminders of Jesus being our hope and anchor in the storm. A sincere “Thank you” to those who have passed along such meaningful scriptures.  Each one points us back to the truth we need to focus on during our walk through darkness. Thanks for shining the light!

To each of you who have sent us a scripture, THANK YOU!  God’s Word is exactly what we need. Know that God’s Word is part of our healing process and we appreciate you and the thoughts behind the verses.

Our Lord promised us He would never leave us and His presence is even more prevalent when our life's become more than we as humans can barely, but He also promised He would not put more on us than we can bare.

Greg~
Thank you so much for making the effort to share how you’re doing, despite maybe not feeling up to it, and with that bringing encouragement to us with this bullseye reminder of truth! With this post from you, I was reminded of a situation many years ago when I was wrestling through the night with God and my spirit heard Him say,”it’s a matter of trust,” and I had my answer to my why question. I did understand in that moment but - wow - full on trust when you can’t see is such a challenge. I will be praying that you will be able to trust in the Lord with all your heart and will have tremendous comfort in that trust!
We love you all so much and you are constantly in our prayers!

When the breast cancer diagnoses came. This is the verse God showed me over and over. And in my low times this is what got me through. (Exodus 14:13-14) “Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Thank you for sharing your journey with us. As we go through hurdles in life encouraging and supporting each other as a community is what we need. Praying for you all.
