We cannot begin to thank you for the true gift and sacrifice of your daily prayers. As Greg doesn’t sleep well at night, when I wake with him, I fall back asleep praying similar prayers you may be lifting on Greg’s behalf and thanking the Lord for YOU!
One of the many things I have learned over the last 3 ½ months is; God truly uses His Body to bless us. At just the right moment, when we don’t even know what we need…YOU step in. We have seen God’s body provide “manna”. In its various forms; texts, words of encouragement, groceries, finances, cards, gift cards, a drop off of food, soup, homemade bread or desserts, blankets, gifts, long distance drives and flights, and most importantly prayer. Thank you for representing our Lord well.
Thank you for demonstrating your love of God by caring for us. From Ecuador to Zambia and around our country, total strangers hear of our situation and love us well through prayer. We feel God’s presence and know His peace in the midst of this storm.
We made the decision to spend the Christmas and New Years holidays closer to our family, and rather than “commute” back to South Florida we decided we would stay in the Carolinas until Greg’s next appointments at Duke. He will be having a MRI and blood work as well as an appointment with his specialists there.
As previously shared, Greg is on what is called a “Chemotherapy Maintenance Cycle.” This involves him taking oral chemotherapy for five days straight and then no chemotherapy for 23 days equalling a 28 day cycle. He then begins the cycle over. To keep a close eye on the effectiveness of the chemo, he will begin having MRIs after every 2 cycles.
This extreme high dosage causes Greg to be absolutely wiped out without strength or stamina. He has been sleeping through the week of the medication and into the next couple of weeks. Sometimes he has a difficult time processing or understanding. It is frustrating to him, I have encouraged him to extend grace to himself.
Knowing our lack of communication and updates have been inconsistent, we truly appreciate the grace you have extended to us. (I thought a nice “gift” for Greg was to catch up on his text messages on Christmas. However, appreciative he was, he really wants to acknowledge your communication himself.) He loves to write the updates here, but we agreed, I could write this update.
Our ultimate prayers remain the same. Please pray for God’s Will, God’s glory and a revival. Imagine all who are praying, in the “stadiums” around the world, praying these prayers?!? Thank you for Representing our Lord as you pray, extend grace, and love us well with being the Body of Christ. - joannie
