Where am I ?

One of the more interesting side effects of my cancer battle has been that I get very little sleep and very little rest. I frequently wake up not knowing exactly where I am. When this happens, I lie awake figuring out my location and who is with me. Sounds funny, but I'm just being real. It’s a minute before I can “get my feet on the ground” and determine my whereabouts.
Today I was thinking that I'd share where I am, not in location, but in process and function.
· On October 25th, I finished with all 30 radiation and chemo treatments.
· I’m functional most days but by the afternoon, I find that I'm very tired.
· I'm not currently working, but enjoy staying in touch with our FCA team.
· My thoughts are usually pretty clear (but slower than “normal”), and I’m physically very weak.
· I'm not able to drive at this time, so Joannie and I are getting lots of quality time in the car.
· I'm deeply blessed by the many messages, calls, texts, and words of encouragement and try to respond as often as I'm able to. Thank you for praying. Thank you for cheering me on through this journey!
I’m told I am "doing good" by the doctors and I’m taking their word for it, because I have nothing to compare it to. Yesterday, I had a scan to evaluate the results of treatment thus far. So for the next few days, we will wait!
On November 15th I have an appointment at Duke University where they have a team of docs who specialize in what type of cancer I have. We'll review the results of the MRI and determine next steps. I’m encouraged by having these dates, knowing that I’ll be able to gain a much better understanding …of where I am!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I regret that I couldn't make it to the pickleball tournament, but I was out of the country. I believe in the FCA mission - but at times like these, you should know that we look to God to give you strength and resilience.
