We are back from spending a full day in Durham NC, meeting with doctors at the Duke University, Preston Robert Tisch Brain Center. The have looked intently at our case and will continue to oversee our care from here on out, in partnership with our team of doctors in Florida. The doctors at Duke are experts in brain cancer and have seen countless patients with the specific type of cancer we are battling.
It was very encouraging to hear that the radiation and chemo we have done since late August, has in fact, impacted the tumors and has slowed growth. Great news!!
It was very encouraging to hear that the radiation and chemo we have done since late August, has in fact, impacted the tumors and has slowed growth. Great news!!
The doctors spoke specifically about their deep understanding the type of tumors and aligning on the treatment that would have the most impact based the make up of the tumors. We were very pleased to hear this news, and to know our next steps will begin as early this coming week. The plan is to focus on the chemo for the next 6 months, knowing the radiation impact is still taking place. (We’ve learned that even after the actual radiation happens, the impact from that exposure continues for weeks…wow!)
The chemotherapy dose will be doubled from first round of treatment. We are aware that the side effects could possibly be more intense…But God, and your prayers will make the difference! Please continue to keep us in your prayers as the battle wages on, knowing Who is on the throne and that HE is our HEALER!
As we have all these interactions with various doctors, nurses, assistants and staff we are continually amazed at how we get to minister to those who are ministering to us. There is no lack of opportunity, as we find ourselves right where God wants us for now. We are humbly accepting this assignment and looking to honor The Lord in HOW we go forward in His grace and care. He IS SO GOOD to us, even in the storm!!
Love you all!
