Sensory play!

Good morning everyone! I wanted to share a little update with you all. One area we work very hard on is strengthening Grasley’s left side. She has hemiplegia, which means her left side doesn’t function as well due to the stroke she experienced in utero.

Her occupational therapist at our local clinic has been incredible and recently recommended more sensory play to help stimulate her left hand, which is the most affected. This is also one of the reasons we are traveling to Australia for an intensive OT program — they specialize in working with children with hemiplegia and focus on helping them build strength, coordination, and independence.

We also just booked our trip to Arizona for stem cell therapy! Stem cells have shown promise in helping damaged areas of the body heal and “wake up,” and we are so hopeful to see what this therapy can do for our girl.
