Gianna's Journey
Thank you to everyone that has shown support for Gianna as we transition to this new platform. We have been busy with doctor appointments and therapies but I’m pleased to say that Gianna continues to make bits of progress with small but huge wins! In the last few weeks she has figured out how to get on and off the couch (and she is SO proud of herself!), and is more consistently self feeding some meals - both things I thought were never going to happen. It’s a crazy headspace to be in but I’m constantly trying to remind myself that I do not have a crystal ball and I just have to take one day at a time as we continue to watch miracles unfold in front of our eyes. We recently saw the neurologist and she said the MRI images on the screen and Gianna are like two different people - she has such extensive brain malformations but yet here she is living proof of the brain’s neuroplasticity and the power of faith, prayer, a crazy mother that doesn’t give up and an amazing community of supporters! So, THANK YOU all for all of your continued support which has given us the ability to do all of the treatments and therapies that have undoubtedly brought us to where we are today!
Looking ahead, we are working on trying to schedule a few intensives because we strongly believe in the intensive model and the way that it increases strength and motor control and most importantly has helped turn the page to the next milestone each time.
We are currently waiting on insurance approvals for a gait trainer so that Gianna can have some safe, independent mobility outside of the house. It’s crazy how long this process is!
Lastly, we are working on a plan for a school program for Gianna that will most likely begin this Spring.
That’s it for now! Thank you all again for your unwavering support of our sweet Gianna and our family!
