We are so thankful to share that surgery went well, and the LVAD is in place and working as it should.
The only concern right now is that the right side of his heart is a little weaker than they'd like. Since the LVAD supports only the left side of the heart, the team is treating the right side with medication. They believe this is very likely because his heart has been through so much over the past week, and they're hopeful it will respond as his body has a chance to recover.
He will remain intubated for at least the next 24 hours, and possibly longer, to allow his heart and body to rest and heal while the team monitors him closely.
We're incredibly grateful for how well he did through surgery and for the amazing team that cared for him every step of the way.
